ANTIPATHY: ART AS ACTIVISM

To open this unprecedented year, DCPS created a curriculum to discuss the shared experiences of students across the district. "Living Through History" is a Cornerstone Unit that asks students to record the world around them. This gallery experience is the students' answer to the question "What do you want to say about what has been going on in the world?"

Students from Duke Ellington's Gallery Management, Cultural Studies, and Museum Communications III classes under our Museum Studies Department have partnered to host their second Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. This year, students have taken their activities to the virtual realm, hosting a Latin cooking class, an arts & crafts workshop, a Latin dance class, and a host of interactive and educational activities for kids, parents, and educators.
